The results are in from the Washington Post’s Best Bets Readers’ Choice awards. Thousands of people from across the metropolitan area voted in such diverse categories as bakeries to romantic restaurants.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is decide of the voting populace is just on crack, or even go through the list and find a couple keen locations for yourself.

Nice top 3 for coffee shops: Starbucks, Tryst and Caribou. I will now peel off my own skin.
This city shouldn’t be allowed to have a coffee shop category. It’d be like voting on the best spot for ice fishing or windsurfing.
What a complete joke. Where to begin? California Tortilla as the #1 Cheap Eat??? A place that has NEVER served steamed blue crabs gets the #5 spot for crab house (Joe’s Crab Shack)???? Papa John’s in the Pizza category???
Most annoying was that Java Greene and Karma were both passed over i the Best Coffee category.
The masses have no clue as to who as the best ANYTHING. If popular food DID have some kind of relationship with the best food, then McDonalds would have the best food in DC (it’s the most popular dining destiation in DC).
Next year, please ignore this meaningless contest and let it die a quiet death.
